051210: Death and joy
There is no doubt that facing the doorway leading to ‘the outside of life’ is an anxious time for most people. But, in fact, the passage is not avoidable.
If there is no existence beyond this physical life, then the event has no meaning. Most of us find great comfort in the thought of retiring to a soft comfortable bed after an exciting day. The concept of curling up under the blankets and turning off the lights on a cold winter’s night is spoken of often in children’s poetry. The adult concept that one rejuvenates one’s self, rejuvenates one’s soul through the process of napping or falling into a deep sleep is well accepted.
To sleep, to fall into a state of unawareness, unconsciousness is, therefore, not an unpleasant concept.
If there is no consciousness after life then to view the pleasure of permanent sleep is not a negative.
If on the other hand there is consciousness after life, then it is what you have generated within this life that you are to take with you when you pass over and therefore it is what you have generated in this life that one needs to fear or look forward to when ‘stepping over’.
The point: For those dealing with death of a love one, rest in peace this holiday season for they are not passing into a realm of non-existence but rather they are passing into a realm more real, passing into a realm of timelessness, passing into a realm that all of us will step into at some time or other.
The separation is only temporary and the time for reunion will surely occur. Take heart and complete your own journey in life to the best of your ability for you also will be stepping over the threshold separating physical life from non-physical existence where you will once again be reunited with those that went before you.
Tomorrow: What if others do not want to commune with you when you cross over?
