Activism: Choosing a minority group:

So what are the criteria best describe the minority group with whom I am considering collaborating in the project regarding the role of metaphysics and social acceptance?

Criteria:

The minority group needs to be:

1.      Universal (in terms of the earth)

2.      Found in all cultures, races, genders, religions, nations, …

3.      Rejected universally

4.      Rejected historically

5.      Consistently under social attack

6.      Insecure as to their contemporary social acceptance

7.      Subjugated

8.      Persecuted

9.

There is no doubt women, as a group, are globally subjugated.

Women go 'missing' by the millions

AMSTERDAM

…But when I read him the figures in a 2004 policy paper published by the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, he said yes, without hesitation.

One United Nations estimate says from 113 million to 200 million women around the world are demographically "missing." Every year, from 1.5 million to 3 million women and girls lose their lives as a result of gender-based violence or neglect.

How could this possibly be true? Here are some of the factors:

In countries where the birth of a boy is considered a gift and the birth of a girl a curse from the gods, selective abortion and infanticide eliminate female babies.

Young girls die disproportionately…

…In countries where women are considered the property of men, …

…In the past two centuries, those in the West have gradually changed the way they treat women. As a result, the West enjoys greater peace and progress. It is my hope that the third world will embark on this effort. Just as we put an end to slavery, we must end the gendercide.

The article by Ayaan Hirsi Ali is well worth reading (see link given)

This group of individuals meets most the criteria, however, they are not a minority group. Women represent more than fifty percent of the population, are not cross gender,

Metaphysics can no doubt act as a primary means of advancing women’s rights and I would be honored to have all women and groups attempting to advance women’s rights use the material found on my two sites as a rational bases to argue the rights of women.

Having said that, I have decided to continue my interactions with a minority group which meets all the criteria listed.

I made contact with this group in February and they have shown some interest.

My next step will be to ask for volunteers to work with me.

I will post updates, including the nature of the group, from time to time as the process proceeds.

Activism

It is time for me to become more of an activist. Writing is not enough. I am aware the work has only been emerging for sixteen years but I can’t help getting antsy. Too much is happening in the world and to simply write and place the work on the internet leaves me filled with a strong sense of pacifism and it is just not enough.

There is no doubt I have enjoyed my retirement years immensely. To be able to spend the time working within the realm of introspection, meditation, listening, absorbing, and relaying is simply beyond words. But I sense the obligation to do more than that although it is not something I particularly want to do. It is, however, something I sense I must do, sense is my responsibility to do.

I have been in contact with a few organizations and people who tell me peace of mind comes through understanding reality and understanding self, can come through meditation. I agree. I not only agree but have found it to be so.

Why then the strong sense of personal responsibility to do more?

I have already spent my personal savings developing the project. I have spent my retirement years to date working on the project. I have contacted Theosophers in India and Michigan, Buddhists in Colorado and California, Theological Colleges in Detroit, Theists, Universities in Michigan and New York, philosophers in Europe and Colorado,…

Few people appear to be interested in the metaphysics of reality. Few people appear to be interested in studying models of reality and what such models mean to society and the individual.

So now what? Quit? I don’t think so! Become discouraged? No!

What then?

Simply take another tact. The tact?

After some thought, I have decided to focus upon four initiatives for the year 2006:

1.      Establish an Academy of Metaphysics

2.      Explore the concept of entering the speaking circuit

3.      Write a book for minorities ,with the aid of the minority group, demonstrating the absolute necessity of metaphysics for minority security within society

4.      Advance the idea of a ‘global family’ recently conceptualized in Scotland.
